BLOK

pure concrete

side table / seating element

BLOK is made from solid concrete. It is a piece of furniture, a side-table, a stool, a barrier – and definetaly an object, reduced to its' essence with the quality to set a statement.

BLOK is  producedon request in a workshop specialized on objects from self compacting concrete, run by pure makers, in lower saxony.

BLOK weighs about 35kg and is made to order.
It is forwarded to the curb of  the new owners.

BLOK is the result of exploring concrete as liquid stone on behalf of a piece of furniture – questioned by Prof. Hans Lamb in 2017 at HAWK – Hochschule für Angewandte Künste in Hildesheim. My answer was as simple as spectacular. Concrete shows emotion of itself by reflecting the surface of the mold it was poured into, shading over years according to its position.

It was presented to a wider audience at Stammelbachspeicher Hildesheim as part of the exhibition "Vorbilder 2" in 2018.

TRAP

ash-wood & cow-hide

climbing furniture

TRAP is made from ash wood and a saddle from cow hide. It is a functional piece of furniture, a ladder, a climbing element, a tool, nearly art – and definetaly an object, reduced to its' essence with the quality to set a statement.

TRAP is  produced at a regional carpentery, some say it is in the heart of Germany.

TRAP weighs about 15kg and is made to order.
It is forwarded to the curb of  the new owners.

TRAP goes back to 2011, where I did study at the Bauhaus-University in Weimar and did this project to free the ladder, a forgotten and often unliked tool, from its' non-representative shape and tranfsorm it into something to show off, something you like to use, to climb on – just for the matter of fun. Under guidance of Prof. Heiko Bartels and Dipl. Des. Welf Oertel.

It was part of numerous exhibitions, in Weimar (Summaery – Hotel Miranda, 2011 / Studio 100 – Kunsthaus Harry Graf Kessler, 2018), Berlin (Excellent Elephant – DMY, 2012 / Bauhaus-Museum, 2012), Cologne (8 Pieces – Gallery Pamme-Vogelsang, 2012), Ulm (Studio 100 – HFG-Ulm, 2019)
